Karen & Ruben Popet – Beraca Orphanage in Jdioara, Romania

Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.   James 1:27

Dear Friends,

School has started and with that comes a more routine schedule for each day. Now that everyone but Robi is in fifth grade or higher, there is a lot more homework and lessons to learn. Valentina and Maria are great at helping them and keeping them on task. But, it can be some very long days for our teenagers.

Valentina has done some fun things as well with the children and teenagers. They went to the theater to see a play called, “America, America”. It was a one man show and afterwards, everyone got to go on the stage and even go backstage and meet the actor. They were so excited to do this. The children and teenagers also got to attend a choral concert with projected drawings going along with Disney music. They really enjoyed this as well.

A big project that needed to be done was to cement the area between our house and the orphanage. Whenever it rained, there was always a lot of water that collected there. It was a muddy mess. The boys helped the men who came to cement this area for us. The boys liked helping and being a part of the team. It looks great and is a blessing to be done.

Valentina had a special night just for the girls. She spent one on one time with them and did things that girls like to do. It made the girls feel special. It is important for each of the children and teenagers to have time like this instead of always being in a group. She also taught one of our young boys how to make a cake. She showed him how to do everything and he did a great job. He was so proud of himself when he served it to the rest of the children and teenagers. This is something that he will remember for a long time.

We are doing well here in America. We have been looking for ways to minister and God provided one for Ruben. He has been asked to be a part of a ministry team here in Jacksonville. Please pray for an open door of ministry for Karen as well. She has one more treatment and then another CT scan at the end of the month. Please pray that it is clear. Thank you for all your prayers for the work in Romania as well as for us. And thank you so much for your faithful financial support for Romania. It is exciting to see all God is doing there.

With our love,
Ruben, Karen & Bianca
