Dear Friends,
We have arrived safely in America. We have been quite busy since we got here, getting things set up and getting settled in. We have two phone numbers while we are here. They are 217-473-8757 (Karen) and 217-248-2720 (Ruben). A family from the Ukraine are staying at the orphanage while we are gone. They are excited to spend the summer with our children. We are thankful for their desire to be a part of our ministry and help us in this way.
Our friends from Germany came to visit us before we left. The children and teenagers always have a great time with them. The weekend was full of activities and fun. They are special people to all of us. It was great to see them.
Some young adults from Romania came and spent a couple of afternoons with our children after school was finished. They played games with them and spent one on one time with each child. It is so good for our children to have that individual time. It makes them feel special. We are thankful for those who have a heart to invest in the children of Romania.
We have been attending a church in Timisoara which has a great children's ministry. Our children have enjoyed going to children's church each Sunday. They are learning a lot and are around other children who have a love for Jesus. The leaders are so loving and are investing their lives in the children in their classes. They are going to have a camp later this summer and have invited our children to go. They are all looking forward to it.
It has been very hot in Romania so far this summer. We have a slip and slide with water that the children have been using a lot. They also have a small wading pool where they can cool off. Plus, they have started to go to the river to swim. With 100 degree temperatures in the afternoon, there isn't much else you can do but swim. Thankfully, it cools off later in the evening so sleeping isn't a problem. It has been great weather for hay. Our teenagers have been helping to put up hay for the winter for our cows. It is not their favorite activity.
