Karen & Ruben Popet – Beraca Orphanage in Jdioara, Romania

Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.   James 1:27

Dear Friends.

School has finally started in Romania.  Four of the teenagers are in high school.  They go to school in Lugoj, so they have to take a bus.  They leave early and get home by late afternoon. It is a long day for them.  The rest of the children and teenagers attend school in our village and the next village.  Life has become busy for everyone as they all also have a lot of homework.

Right before school started, Valentina took everyone on a trip to see some of the famous castles in Romania.  Having been there ourselves, the Bran and Peles castles are two of the most beautiful places we have seen.  The drive goes through the Carpathian Mountains, so it is an amazing trip.  They also went to the lake nearby one last time for swimming and a barbeque.  And they went hiking in the mountains which are close by.  Cosmin, our oldest teenager, attended a military camp, too.  It was a challenge for him, but he learned a lot.  It was a valuable experience for him.

Beraca was able to help a needy family that has eleven children with food, toiletries, and household supplies. They are Christians and do all they can to take care of their needs, but they still need help.  We are thankful that we can help relieve some of their burdens.  There are so many situations like this in Romania.  We are blessed to be able to help some of them.

Our family is doing well.  Bianca has started her junior year at Illinois College.  Ruben is busy working full-time at Home Depot now.   He also helps other people with different odd jobs.  Karen has started to work a few hours a week for an accountant in town.  We are thankful how God continues to provide and take care of us.

We appreciate all your prayers for our ministry in Romania and for our family.  Thank you for your faithful and generous support for our Romanian ministry.  It keeps things going so smoothly.
